Ocean Carnival-Weeping Ceiling
  • Initial Performance Date & Place23~27, June 2004, The water park museum
  • Repertoire

The main theme of the Ocean Carnival was the relationship between dancing and biology issue. Applying he dialectical materialism among dance language, water wave and visual art as its inspiration cut-in point. When people gradually keep away from the Mother Nature and addict to this hi-tech and visualization complex, the reality and illusion have been confused most of the people. She-fen Yao manipulates the characteristics of choreography and visual art and space by using overlapping skill extensively delivers the message- How to resist the games we play in the limited space.

She creates the dialogue of how people merge and ruminate from their memory in this Hi-tech world. In the visual art part, Ocean Carnival combined the mechanical real life and the brilliant movements of the water world. Music wise, CCDC co-operated with the domestic electronic music composer. This is the first attempt of CCDC. Under the heavy-duty electronic music, it creates the conflict atmosphere of the coldness of city vs. a peaceful ocean.
